First, we explore the surroundings of the Uros community with a local guide.
Later on, we take a ride on a typical reed boat from one island to another.
After touring around, we head to the traditional Taquile Island.
Once in Taquile, we take a short trek to the top of the Island.
Upon arrival, we walk around its main plaza and meet the natives.
By noon, we take lunch at a nice restaurant, which offers great views of the lake.
Finally, we walk down to the harbor and return to the city of Puno.
06:45 h. Our tour starts at your hotel in Puno. Our guide will pick you up from there.
Shortly after that, we take you to the local harbor where we board a small motorboat.
First, we visit The Uros Floating Islands, a small community that lives on these reed Islands for decades.
Long ago the Uros tribe conceived of the islands as a way to isolate and protect themselves from rival tribes.
The Uros people built floating platforms, and made reed houses and canoes, creating their little world.
During our visit, we will learn about their lifestyle, traditions, as well as their beliefs.
Additionally, we also take a short ride on a typical reed boat.
After strolling around the floating Islands, we continue our journey toward Taquile Island.
Taquile is a traditional Quechua-speaking community, located at the heart of Lake Titicaca.
Once at the harbor of Taquile, we will walk up along a narrow path to the center of the island.
Along the way, we will enjoy stunning landscapes, including the Bolivian mountain range.
As soon as we get to the top, our local guide will explain traditional life on Taquile.
Afterward, we visit a workshop where Taquile islanders elaborate beautiful garments.
Moreover, the iconography of their textiles reflects their way of life, nature, as well as their beliefs.
Among their garments, stands out the Calendar Waistband, which depicts the annual cycles connected to agricultural activities.
Later on, you will have free time to walk around, and by noon we meet up for lunch at one local restaurant.
Finally, we will descend to the harbor to take the boat back to Puno.
Upon arrival in Puno, our driver will take you back to your hotel.
