Among the pieces, you will find ancient vessels, weapons, stone works, textiles, and other remains found at the ruins.

Likewise, we will learn aspects about the origins of Chan Chan and also about the people who once inhabited the site.
Some scholars believe that during the heydays of Chan Chan, more than 50,000 people inhabited the city.

Most of Chan Chan’s inhabitants were farmers, metal workers, and above all fishermen
Later on, we will continue our tour to the ruins of Chan Chan, located nearby.

Part II: Ruins of Chan Chan.

Once inside Chan Chan, our local guide will lead you throughout the ruins visiting the most important sectors.

First, we will see the grand plaza, a large square where the Chimu people carried out lavish ceremonies.
Around the plaza, you will see friezes decorating the walls, showing mainly marine creatures.

Following the trails of Chan Chan, we explore various other sites, including mausoleums, and many decorated walls.
Furthermore, the walls reveal a close relationship between the Chimu people and the sea, as most of the friezes show marine life.
