Full Description

Part I: Start of the Journey – Nazca Lines Viewpoint
Our Tour to Chicchitara Petroglyphs begins at 08:30 h with hotel pickup in Nazca. As we head north through the desert, our first stop is the Nazca Lines Metallic Tower. From the top, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of some of the most iconic geoglyphs: the Tree, the Frog, and the Lizard. These immense desert figures remain a mystery, inviting speculation about their origin and purpose. This stop sets the tone for a day of discovery, as we journey deeper into the heart of ancient Peru.

Part II: Ancient Palpa Geoglyphs and Pre-Inca Symbolism
We continue toward the Palpa Valley, where another layer of Peru’s ancient heritage is revealed. Here you’ll witness the Palpa Lines, a series of hillside drawings etched long before the Nazca Lines, attributed to the Paracas Culture. These geoglyphs, mostly human figures, are clearly visible from ground level and offer a more intimate glimpse into the spiritual world of early Andean societies. Before reaching our main destination, we pause in the town of Palpa for a short break.

Part III: The Mystical Petroglyphs of Chicchitara
Our final and most thrilling stop is the Chicchitara Petroglyphs, located in a secluded valley around 10 km inland. This sacred complex features hundreds of rock carvings scattered across the slopes and hilltops. You’ll walk among carved stones depicting two-headed serpents, Andean cats, monkeys, foxes, and abstract symbols. Highlights include the Rock of the 3 Ages, a powerful representation of human evolution or ritual. Your guide will help interpret the meanings behind these figures, some of which have survived for more than a thousand years. After fully exploring this archaeological wonder, we return to Nazca.
