Our Tour to the Moche Temple of the Moon leaves from the city of Trujillo.
On this trip, we travel across the Moche Valley, learning about the Ancient Moche people.
Besides visiting the Moon Temple, visitors will also appreciate the old structures of the Sun Temple.
Additionally, visit a pottery workshop, where locals elaborate Moche ceramics using old techniques.
09:00 h. Our tour starts at your hotel in Trujillo, our guide will pick you up from there.
Shortly afterward, we head towards the Moche Valley, located about 8 kilometers away.
Along the road, we will see the high walls of the Sun Temple, built entirely with mudbricks around 100 AC.
Later on, we arrive at the Moon Temple and step in with our guide.
Inside of the pyramid, our guide will show you the different levels of the site.
Following the steps, we will stumble upon various frescoes showing bloody rituals and ceremonies.
Among the frescoes, we will see almost repeatedly the images of Aia-Paec god, also known as the Decapitator.
Continuing our tour, we will get to the highest part of the pyramid, where recent excavations have revealed stunning murals.
Perhaps, one of the most bizarre friezes is the one that shows a group of naked prisoners with a rope around their necks carried to their execution.
Additionally, we will visit the Moche museum located nearby. Here we will see various relics found at the site.
Finally, we will visit a ceramic studio where direct descendants of the Moche produce ceramics using old techniques.
After the ceramics studio visit, our guide will take you back to your hotel.
