Cahuachi lies 30 km away from Nazca, at the lower section of the valley.
Once in Cahuachi, we will visit with our guide the most important buildings.
Among the most relevant structures, stand out the Great Pyramid.
Scholars believe it was the most magnificent structure at Cahuachi.
Nearby Italian archaeologists found remains of human sacrifices.
Among the remains, they excavated a large number of trophy heads.
Another important structure is the Great Temple, located nearby.
Excavations at the site brought to the surface remarkable relics.
Cahuachi also contains large burial sites; therefore we will also take a look at one of them.
Walking around, one can easily spot human bones and ceramic fragments left by the looters.
Finally, we will return to Nazca. Upon arrival, our driver will drop you off at your hotel.

Cahuachi is located southwest of Nasca, on the banks of the Nasca River.
To visit Cahuachi you need transportation, as the ruins are located 28 km away.
If you do not have your own transport, you can take a taxi to the city center.

According to archaeologists, Cahuachi was a religious center of the Nasca culture.
It is an ancient city made up of pyramids, temples, squares, and platforms.
The city covers more than 24 square km, and its buildings are made of mud.
Cahuachi flourished in 400 B.C., having its heydays around 200 A.D.
For some, it was at Cahuachi where the construction of the famous Nazca lines was conceived.

It is a city that was buried for more than 1500 years, and today you can see how it was.
Besides exploring the pyramids and temples, you can also see ancient necropolises.

The trip by car from Nazca to Cahuachi takes about 35 minutes.
The best time is early in the morning, thus avoiding the harsh desert sun.
In the afternoon it is also possible, but sometimes it is very windy.
These winds are known as Paracas, and they are usually so strong that lift up a lot of sand.
If you go to Cahuachi in the morning, the ideal would be to wear comfortable clothes, as well as light footwear.
A hat or cap would be very useful to avoid sun burning. Don’t forget sunscreen anyway.
Sunglasses are also very useful.
If you go in the afternoon, do not forget a windbreaker jacket, it could be very helpful.
