Excursion to the Ruins of Pachacamac

Part I: Museum of Pachacamac & Ruins.

09:00 h. Our Tour to the Ruins of Pachacamac starts from your hotel in Lima, our guide picks you up from there.
Afterward, we will drive to the south of Lima for some 30 km, till we reach the Sanctuary of Pachacamac.

According to the archaeologist, Pachacamac was the most important pilgrimage center in ancient Peru.
A holy place where hundreds of pilgrims arrived to pay tribute.
Scholars believe people came here mainly to consult the oracle, who they thought could predict the future.

First, we visit the Pachacamac Museum, which displays relics found at the site, as well as an idol representing Pachacamac God.
Archaeologists discovered at the site large cemeteries, which can be seen from the top of the ruins.
Among the remains, we will see various ceramics pots, textiles, and carving woods representing Pachacamac God.

This archaeological site comprises the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of Pachacamac, and the Palace of the Virgins of the Sun or Acllahuasi.
The Acllahuasi was a name given to a particular group of women, who played an important role at the Pachacamac Temple.

Likewise, these women took care of the religious ceremonies and the production of fine textiles for the nobility too.
Additionally, from the highest part, the site also offers magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean as well as of the Lurin Valley nearby.

After strolling around the Ruins of Pachacamac, we go to visit the district of Barranco, located on the south of Lima, overlooking the ocean.

Part II: Barranco District.

Once in Barranco, we will take a short walk around its main plaza, which is surrounded by fountains, and colorful gardens.
Nearby we find “El Puente de Los Suspiros”, an old bridge built in 1876, a favorite place for couples, thus its name “The Bridge of Sighs”
Additionally, you will also enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, as well as the beach of Barranco.

Finally, we will take you back to your hotel.
