Our Tour to Caral from Lima begins at 6:30 am with pickup directly from your hotel in a private vehicle. Accompanied by your guide, we travel north along the Pacific coast toward the Supe Valley, home to one of the most extraordinary archaeological discoveries in the Americas.

After several hours crossing Peru’s coastal desert landscapes, we arrive at the Sacred City of Caral, an ancient urban center that flourished over 5,000 years ago. Upon arrival, we meet our specialized local archaeological guide who will lead us through this fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Part II: Archaeological Exploration of Caral

Built on a desert terrace overlooking the fertile Supe River Valley, Caral is considered the oldest known civilization in the Americas. During our guided exploration, we walk through an impressive complex of pyramids, ceremonial plazas, temples, and residential sectors that reveal the sophistication of this ancient society.

Among the most remarkable structures is the Sacred Fire Temple, a ceremonial enclosure containing an ancient ritual fireplace where offerings and sacred ceremonies were once performed. The site also features sophisticated stone architecture and carefully designed urban planning that demonstrates the advanced knowledge of Caral’s builders.

Later, we explore the famous Amphitheater, one of the most iconic sectors of the archaeological complex. This circular sunken plaza is believed to have served as a ceremonial and gathering space where religious rituals, music, and public events took place thousands of years ago.

Continuing through the sacred city, we arrive at the Greater Pyramid, the dominant structure of Caral and likely the political and spiritual heart of the civilization. From this elevated sector, visitors gain a deeper understanding of the scale, organization, and importance of this ancient metropolis that changed the history of the Americas.
