Nazca Lines and Caral Tour: Visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in just 2 days—Caral’s sacred pyramids and the enigmatic Nazca Lines.

This 2-day private tour from Lima takes you on an unforgettable journey through two of Peru’s most ancient wonders—Caral and the Nazca Lines. On Day 1, travel north to explore the Sacred City of Caral, the oldest known civilization in the Americas, with its impressive pyramids and ceremonial plazas. After returning to Lima for an overnight stay, Day 2 begins with an early drive to Pisco Airport, where you’ll board a scenic flight to view the mysterious Nazca and Palpa Lines from the air. This exclusive experience blends archaeology, adventure, and mysticism, offering a unique perspective on Peru’s rich and ancient past.
DAY 1: Journey to the Cradle of Civilization
Uncover the Secrets of Caral, the Oldest City in the Americas
Your private expedition begins at 6:30 AM, when your expert local guide picks you up from your hotel in Lima. Leaving the bustling capital behind, we travel north along the legendary Pan-American Highway, passing through ever-changing coastal landscapes on our way to the fertile Supe Valley.
Hidden between desert hills and green agricultural fields lies Caral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest known civilization in the Americas, flourishing more than 5,000 years ago. Upon arrival, a specialized local guide will accompany you through this extraordinary archaeological complex.
As you walk through the sacred city, you’ll discover monumental pyramids, sunken circular plazas, residential sectors, and ceremonial temples that reveal the sophistication of a society that thrived long before the rise of the Inca Empire. Visit the revered Temple of the Sacred Fire, a space believed to have hosted important spiritual rituals and astronomical observations.
Beyond its impressive architecture, Caral tells the story of one of humanity’s earliest urban experiments—an advanced civilization that developed trade networks, music, engineering, and social organization while much of the world was still taking its first steps toward complexity.
Following your guided exploration, we’ll enjoy lunch in the nearby town before beginning our comfortable return journey to Lima. You will arrive back at your hotel in the late afternoon or early evening, bringing with you a deeper appreciation for Peru’s remarkable ancient heritage.
DAY 2: Flight Over the Desert of Enigmas
Witness the Nazca and Palpa Lines from the Sky
Today, another unforgettable adventure awaits. At 7:00 AM, we depart Lima in a private vehicle and journey south along Peru’s scenic coastline toward Pisco Airport. During the drive, your guide will introduce you to the fascinating world of the Nazca culture, sharing theories and stories surrounding one of archaeology’s greatest mysteries.
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll board a Cessna Grand Caravan, specially designed for aerial sightseeing. Every passenger enjoys a guaranteed window seat and receives a detailed flight map to help identify the incredible figures below.
As the aircraft climbs above the desert, the vast expanse of the Nazca Lines comes dramatically into view. Observe iconic geoglyphs such as the Hummingbird, Monkey, Spider, Condor, and Whale, along with mysterious geometric designs and ancient humanoid figures scattered across the surrounding landscape.
Created more than 1,500 years ago, these immense desert drawings continue to challenge modern understanding. How were they constructed with such precision? Why were they created? Were they ceremonial pathways, astronomical calendars, or messages intended for the gods? Despite decades of research, their true purpose remains one of the world’s most enduring archaeological enigmas.
After landing, you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch at one of the excellent restaurants near the coast (lunch not included). Later, we begin our return journey to Lima, arriving in the late afternoon, where you’ll be transferred comfortably back to your hotel.
