The tour starts at 7:30 AM with hotel pick-up in Puno and a boat trip across the lake to the Uros floating islands, remarkable artificial islands built entirely from totora reeds, where you also ride a traditional reed boat. You then continue to Amantani Island to stay overnight with a local family, hike Pachamama Hill for sunset and share an evening of Andean music and dance. On day 2 you visit Taquile Island, renowned for its UNESCO-recognized textile art, before returning to Puno around 5:00 PM.

What are the Uros floating islands made of?
The Uros islands are built entirely from totora reeds, a type of bulrush that grows abundantly in the lake. The islands are constantly maintained and replenished. Walking on them feels bouncy and spongy, nothing like solid ground.
What are homestay conditions like?
Homestays are simple but clean, traditional island homes. You stay in a private room with beds and warm blankets; bathrooms are usually shared and electricity can be limited. Nights are cold at this altitude (bring warm layers). The experience is about cultural connection, not luxury. Your hosts are warm and welcoming.
